Our journey
Orin comes from the word origin. We believe coffee should show where it comes from: no flavoring, no elaborate co-fermentations that mask the bean’s true character.
The beginning
I’m Klemen Maček, founder of Orin Coffee. I’ve been building the brand on my own principles since 2016. Coffee once seemed bitter and unpleasant to me, I preferred tea. Then someone offered me a specialty-grade filter coffee, and I couldn’t believe coffee could taste like that. From that moment on, it was a love that only kept deepening.
Why I roast myself
I started roasting myself because I wanted full control over how the coffee ends up in the cup. I don’t adjust the roast to fit the machine you’ll brew it in. I adjust it to the coffee itself, drawing out the most balanced flavor each bean has to give. Every lot scores at least 82 points on the Specialty Coffee Association scale before we even offer it. We don’t chase trends, we roast only once an order comes in, never before.
Working with growers
We choose only beans where ethical principles and fair payment to growers are respected. Quality that starts on the farm has to stay tangible all the way to the last sip: from bean to cup.
